My Story

I was born at the Sydney Adventist Hospital in Wahroonga, Sydney, Australia on January 2, 1990. That makes me a Capricorn. I am the youngest member of my family. I have an older sister, Elle, who attends Griffith University on the Gold Coast, in South East Queensland, Australia. She has done her Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Creative Drama and Digital Video and is now doing her Masters in Event Management. We've spoken about it and I want her to be really involved in my music videos. I have a dad, Greg, and a mum, Jacky. We're a pretty close family. My dad sings as well and I think I must have his "singing" gene. Dad tells me that, when Elle and I were little he would read us bedtime stories. However, when I was about 4 years old I asked him to sing me a song instead, He didn't mind 'cause he loves singing anyway. Dad used to sing a classic Frank Sinatra song, "Strangers In The Night". Every time he would finish the song I would say "Again". Dad said he doesn't think anybody could come up with as many variations of the song as he has. He also said that when he hit a wrong note sometimes I would correct him. I won't tell you what he said he called me but it was something like "smart... "something".

We moved to the Gold Coast in late 1995 just before I turned 6. What an awesome time we've had since moving here. My sister and I attended Surfers Paradise Primary School. There I started taking lessons in violin (see newspaper article) & keyboard. From the keyboard I progressed to classical piano lessons which I still do today. After primary school Elle and I attended Somerset College at Mudgeeraba here on the Gold Coast. When I was 12 I got a job as a volunteer at a horse riding place called Pioneer Country. I had the most fun of my life there even though it was a lot of hard work. There were all sorts of animals other than the horses - sheep, cattle, dogs, cats, pigs, birds, kangaroos, snakes (yes, deadly brown snakes) - you name it. I remember the fun we used to have hand-raising little lambs. The hard work was keeping the horses fed & cleaned, cleaning the stables & the paddocks, rounding up sheep & cattle and lots more. But the reward was going on the rides. After a while I even got to be a trail ride leader. My favourite horse was Banjo and we really got along well. I worked there until the age of 15 and I must tell you it was extremely sad to leave.

As we live in one of the most gorgeous parts of Australia I love going to the beach. My girlfriends and myself either just sunbake but I love going for a surf as well.

Now I'm busily doing the thing I love - my music.

Luv Katey.
