KATEY ASH is a young, extraordinary talent with a burning passion to create her own style of music. She is a talented songwriter, musician (keys) & extraordinary vocalist. Having realised the highly competitive nature of the music industry, Katey has embarked on a path to be the best she can be. Wanting to fine-tune her voice and maximise her chances of realising her dream, Katey has been studying the technique of Speech Level Singing (SLS) developed by Seth Riggs in the US. SLS and Seth Riggs has been associated with over 120 Grammy Award winners. To give her the edge she continues to study the piano and is also working closely with a couple of young Gold Coast producers.
In August, 2008 Katey flew to LA to attended Seth Rigg's Summer Vocal Programme in Bel Air, California where she was selected out of the 200 attendees to be one of 10 performers to perform on the final night (view video below). While primarly an R & B/Pop performer, Katey choose to perform the Eva Cassidy version of the ballad, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, to showcase her talents as a singer.
The Summer Programme, conducted over 10 jampacked days, gave Katey invaluable feedback about industry requirements in songwriting, additional voice coaching and the correct path to secure that ever elusive recording contract.
While there she made contact with a number of important producers who have worked with the country's top artists. She'll be returning to the US in the near future to attend SLS's Artist Development Programme, the next step in her dream of securing a recording contract.
She is now busily writing and composing to prepare for the next visit to the US .

Katey's ambition is not only to become a recording artist in her own right but wants to emulate superstars like Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, Joss Stone, Madonna, Beyonce, Tina Arena and many others, and be a recognised artist for many years to come. In her own words "This is my life's passion!"
She has performed in a locally produced stage production at the Gold Coast Arts Centre, and is currently performing in private corporate gigs in her beautiful, sub-tropical hometown of the Gold Coast, located in South East Queensland, Australia. Katey says being close to gorgeous white sandy beaches and azure blue seas gives her the inspiration to compose her music. Katey draws inspiration from the music of all styles including that of the late, great Eva Cassidy
